It's just a shame that, due to developments in my own life, I currently don't have the time to keep up with the updates on this blog. I have however managed to post a film that I made about my personal experiences with Aspergers Syndrome. If you have the time I hope that you will give it a watch.

Thanks,

Robert Mann MARobert Mann MAnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1161897690402643459.post-48664546362688620472011-08-05T06:30:48.029-07:002011-08-05T06:30:48.029-07:00Hello,

Thank you so much for sharing your insight with us.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1161897690402643459.post-19214707567201603142011-05-02T05:36:31.571-07:002011-05-02T05:36:31.571-07:00The only problem with the theory that only a disab...The only problem with the theory that only a disabled person can play someone with a disability or actor or actress with aspergers can play someone with aspergers is that it implies that only a healthy/neurotypical person can play a neurotypical role. Would you limit Lizzie's ability to play neurotypical characters and force her to only take on aspie parts? I believe that all actors/actresses should have an equal chance to play any part. As aspies, we have to play neurotypical roles every day. Surely a talented actress should be able to translate these skills to her roles regardless of her neurodiversity.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1161897690402643459.post-86090358409464412712011-03-15T02:59:28.730-07:002011-03-15T02:59:28.730-07:00People with Aspergers Syndrome find it so hard to ...People with Aspergers Syndrome find it so hard to make friends because we often don't understand or properly comprehend the rules of social interaction. I, for instance, never know what to say or do in a social situation and generally find the whole social thing to be very nerve wracking. I commonly freeze up and if I do manage to speak I tend to be speaking at the person rather than with them. I find it hard to hold a conversation outside of a topic that interests me personally.

Unfortunately, people generally don't spell out their feelings to us. We are just expected, like everyone else, to automatically pick up on how they are feeling, something which we are completely unable to do due to a lack of understanding of body language and even common aspects of speech.

As for jokes, it depends purely on the kind of humour. For me personally some kinds of humour will make me laugh very easily, particularly stuff in a film or TV show, but, when a person is actually saying a joke, I often don't get it. Jokes that people tell are of the variety that people like me just don't often understand. I don't know more specifically why this is the case.

I hope this answers your questions and I apologise for my late response. I am very busy of late and so don't get on here much, hence the lack of updates for a while.

Robert Mannrobert_bond75https://www.blogger.com/profile/13200550789153688539noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1161897690402643459.post-60049329442024804462011-03-03T09:26:39.660-08:002011-03-03T09:26:39.660-08:00I feel curious. I understand you may not be able to know what others feel if others don't tell you, but, isn't it enough that people try and describe what they feel to you? I feel better, if I'm feeling sad or angry, when I describe how I feel, because when I do it I understand better how do I feel and why and helps me calm down. Even though the fact that you can't know that easily how I feel would be a bit confusing to me at first, and maybe even a little bit funny (because it would be surprising and surprise is a mayor factor in things being funny), once I know about your condition I think it should be easy.

And you truly do not understand jokes easily? Why is that? Do you know?

I will try to come back to this site sometime. Maybe tomorrow or one of the days next week. Please, answer my questions.

I enjoyed the movie very much.Jatnahttp://hazclick.weebly.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1161897690402643459.post-79315739162074163742010-07-06T07:40:20.662-07:002010-07-06T07:40:20.662-07:00You're underselling yourself my friend. I have spent 20+ years advocating for him, now with a BS in human service, and working on my MA in counseling, i hope to continue to assist him, and other families living with ASD.
Your site has provided me with incredible insight and hope for him. He longs to have a carereer in the movie business~ as movies are his passion~ And would love to find a woman to share his life with. He is a hopeless romantic, with tender heart, but again his ASD is like wearing shoes 3 sizes too big and trying to run a marathon. thank you for your stories of inspiration and hope.
